Africa CEO Forum Showcases Growing Momentum for Sustainable Business Across
the Continent
|
At this year’s Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, the UN Global Compact and the Africa Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC) spotlighted the growing role of business in shaping Africa’s economic future. The ABLC launched a new position paper, Five Mindset Shifts to Unlock Intra-African Trade, calling for deeper regional integration, investment and cross-border collaboration to help unlock the continent’s vast economic potential. The Coalition also released its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting how member companies are advancing climate action and gender equality across 52 African countries. In addition, the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) Solutions Lab held a side event on Private Sector Leadership on Financing Digital Public Infrastructure at the Africa CEO Forum. Building on this momentum, we also expanded our footprint across the continent with the launch of new Country Networks in Angola and Rwanda, strengthening local
platforms for sustainable business leadership and accelerating private sector action on the Sustainable Development Goals.

In partnership with Kantar, UNGC launched the first-ever global benchmark study on sustainable marketing transformation, offering new insights into how companies are embedding sustainability into growth, innovation and brand strategy. Drawing on perspectives from more than 1,700 senior leaders worldwide, the report shows growing momentum among marketing leaders while also highlighting important gaps between ambition and execution, particularly in areas requiring deeper cross-functional collaboration, systems thinking and long-term transformation.

The Human Rights Think Lab report, Leveraging Technological Solutions to Support Human Rights Due Diligence, explores how companies are using AI, traceability platforms, satellite monitoring and worker voice tools to strengthen due diligence across complex global supply chains. Drawing on insights from 25 leading companies and organizations, the report examines both the opportunities and risks of technology adoption, while underscoring a critical message: effective human rights due diligence must remain grounded in human judgment, stakeholder engagement and responsible governance.
