Accelerating business action at HLPF 2026
|
With just five years remaining to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), leaders from Government, business, the United Nations and civil society gathered at the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) to accelerate action on the 2030 Agenda. Throughout the Forum, the UN Global Compact championed the critical role of business in driving sustainable growth, scaling innovation and forging the partnerships needed to turn ambition into measurable impact. From mobilizing investment to strengthening public-private collaboration, the message was clear: achieving the SDGs will depend on business leadership and collective action.

Unlocking the next generation of SDG investment
|
The SDGs face an estimated US$4 trillion annual financing gap and business has a critical role to play in closing it. The UN Global Compact's new Business-Led Blended Finance: A Practical Playbook is the first practical guide designed specifically for companies, helping them move from passive participants to active architects of blended finance solutions. Strengthening responsible business in Egypt
|
During a week of engagements in Cairo, UN Global Compact CEO and Executive Director Sanda Ojiambo convened leaders from business, government, academia and the United Nations to advance responsible business across the region. Through the PRME Global Forum, CEO roundtables, meetings with government and business leaders, and engagements with students, she highlighted the importance of investing in future leaders while accelerating private sector action on sustainable development. The visit reinforced Egypt's growing role as a hub for sustainable investment and responsible business, and the power of partnerships to drive competitiveness, resilience and progress towards the SDGs.

The 2026 UN Private Sector Forum will bring together 150 senior leaders from business, government and the United Nations for a focused conversation on what it will take to accelerate a clean and just energy transition. Hosted by the UN Global Compact on behalf of the UN Secretary-General, this invitation-only roundtable will examine how the private sector and public institutions can work together to close the gap between current commitments and the pace of change required to stay on a 1.5°C pathway.
