UN Global Compact launches Caribbean Network
|
To Global Compact Network Caribbean launched on 22 May, bringing together 11 countries and six overseas territories. The new Network “is a critical step towards leveraging the unique position of Caribbean economies as advocates for climate justice, sustainable development financing and biodiversity preservation," said Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact. It brings the total to 62 UN Global Compact Networks.

Business leaders pledge to tackle gender inequality at Africa CEO Forum
|
The UN Global Compact spoke out for private sector action to advance gender equality at the Africa CEO Forum, held in Kigali, Rwanda in May. The Africa Business Leaders Coalition’s Gender Statement recognizes the urgent need to dismantle barriers faced by women in the workplace, marketplace and community and calls gender equality a moral imperative and a catalyst for business value, inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.
