December highlights International Anti-Corruption and Human Rights Day
|
International Anti-Corruption Day (9 December) and Human Rights Day (10 December) focused on the fight against corruption and the advancement of equality and justice, respectfully. Corruption undermines trust and fuels rights abuses, while strong human rights frameworks strengthen accountability and governance. Following the 13th United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights held in November, Human Rights Day kept the momentum pushing, bringing together global stakeholders to advance corporate accountability and human rights practices. Both UN days serve as a call for Governments, businesses and civil society to collaborate in prioritizing fairness and ethical practices across both themes.

Preparing Seafarers for a Decarbonized Maritime Industry
|
The Maritime Just Transition Task Force (MJTTF), in partnership with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Lloyd’s Register Foundation, is advancing training initiatives to meet the challenges of alternative marine fuels like ammonia, methanol and hydrogen. Through its Baseline Training Framework for Seafarers in Decarbonization project, MJTTF conducted workshops with 116 experts to identify competency gaps and design updated training frameworks.
With maritime decarbonization essential to achieving global climate goals, the findings aim to shape global training standards and regulatory updates, ensuring a skilled workforce ready for the transition to zero-emission fuels, while also maintaining safety and efficiency across the shipping industry.
